【摘要】:Limitedaccuracyinmeasuringthechangeinlengthproduceserrorsinestimatingvaluesforshrinkagebelow10%.However,thistestisbeingusedforlowlevelshrinkagefibersbecausetheresultsgivehavebeenfoundtogiveanadequateindicationofaverageshrinkageatthelowerlevels.Thetestisnotadequatefordeterminingvariabilityinaverageshrinkageatlowlevels.Iftherearedifferencesofpracticalsignificancebetweenreportedtestresultsfortwolaboratories(ormore),comparativetestsshouldbeperformedtodetermineifthereisastatisticalbiasbetweenthem,usingcompetentstatisticalassistance.Asaminimum,usethesamplesforsuchacomparativeteststhatareashomogeneousaspossible,drawnfromthesamelotofmaterialasthesamplesthatresultedindisparateresultsduringinitialtestingandrandomlyassignedinequalnumberstoeachlaboratory.Thetestresultsfromthelaboratoriesinvolvedshouldbecomparedusingastatisticaltestforunpaireddata,aprobabilitylevelchosenpriortothetestingseries.Ifabiasisfound,eitheritscausemustbefoundandcorrected,orfuturetestresultsforthatmaterialmustbeadjustedinconsiderationoftheknownbias.Thistestmethodfortestingtheshrinkageoffibersisnotrecommendedforacceptancetestingofcommercialshipmentsoffibersbecauseonlyalimitedamountofdataisavailable.SeeSection14.Thistestmethodmaybeusedforacceptancetestingofcommercialshipmentsoffibers;butcautionisadvisedsinceinformationonbetweenlaboratoryprecisionisincomplete.Comparativetestsasdirectedin5.1areadvised.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthemeasurementoftheunrestrainedshrinkageofabundleofcrimpedoruncrimpedfibersfromexposuretosomeenvironment,forinstance,boilingwaterfor15min.1.1.1Thistestmethodmaybeusedonfibersfromtowandfibersremovedfromspunorcontinuousfilamentyarn.Note1-Formeasurementofshrinkageofsinglefibers,refertoTestMethodD5104.1.2Thevaluesstatedineitherinch-poundorSIunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasthestandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotexactequivalents,therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
